Is your company ready to grow with AI?
A question for leadership
AI is changing how companies understand, decide and execute. The strategic question is how you make that capability useful across your whole business — today and going forward.
Do you believe AI will be a strategic resource for your company — supporting decisions and driving the work forward?

Next step
A strategic AI resource needs to understand the company, work from the right material and be able to develop over time.
01 A shared company context
A strategic AI resource needs to understand your company: what you do, what you want to achieve, your customers, offers and priorities. Without that context, answers can become generic or rest on the wrong assumptions. A shared context gives the whole company a current foundation to work from. Leadership is responsible for which shared facts apply, while the right people help review and update them. Sources, versions and relevance need to be clear. Searching files can complement such a foundation, but it does not replace the decisions about what is approved company knowledge. Too much or irrelevant information can also make some answers worse.

Gartner: why AI needs the right company contextResearch: when irrelevant context makes answers worse02 The right questions and well-built instructions
The quality of an AI's answer depends on how the task is framed, which instructions are given and which context is used. In our experience, a well-built prompt for a single question can take up to half an hour to produce. When many employees write similar questions themselves, the work is repeated. In long conversations, earlier answers and wording can also influence how the question continues to be handled. Ready-made, well-built business flows with the right company context let more people start from the same considered method and reuse relevant work.
How do you do this today? Do you have ready instructions for your business flows, control over which context is used and a way to reuse earlier work?
MIT: instructions, context and riskMIT Sloan: when AI defends an earlier answer03 Several perspectives and critical review
AI engines can give convincing answers that contain errors or claims without support. That is why material needs review in several steps. A model can check its own work. A separate critical review — red teaming — can then challenge the report's facts, assumptions and conclusions. Fact-checking can also test whether statements and links are supported by the sources. Different models can add further perspectives. Research shows that structured review and checking can improve answers and reduce errors in some tasks; the effect depends on the task and the method.
How do you do this today? Do you have fact-checking and critical review in place for the business questions where you use AI?
Research: review between AI modelsResearch: review and fact-checking with tools04 An AI capability that develops with the company
AI is developing fast, and different models gain new capabilities at different speeds. When a better model becomes available, it is as if the company's AI resource has received further training: it can bring a stronger capability to the work it already does. The company needs to benefit from that progress in its business flows, analyses, monitoring and agentic work — while its shared knowledge and context stay in place. If new models require new projects or repeated rebuilds, the company risks waiting for capabilities that already exist.
How do you do this today? Can your business flows and AI work take up new models' capabilities without new projects or extensive reconfiguration?
Stanford AI Index: how AI models are developing05 From insight to work and learning
A strategic AI resource needs to contribute through the whole piece of work: from understanding and analysing to preparing tasks, supporting execution and following up results, within the company's goals and mandates. Decisions, sources and results need to be traceable and saved. When lessons are reviewed and carried forward, the next task can start with more of the knowledge the company has already built.
How do you do this today? How do you follow up, save and trace AI work, and make sure the lessons are used next time?
World Economic Forum: strategy, execution and learningYou answered yes. Is the foundation in place?
Your way forward
If AI is a strategic resource, the company needs a shared context, well-built flows, review, a capability that develops and learning that carries forward.
Without a shared context, AI does not automatically have the company's approved picture.
Without ready instructions, more people have to formulate and recreate the work themselves.
Without fact-checking and critical review, errors and hallucinations stay in the material.
Without a way to bring in new models, the business has to wait for better capability.
Without follow-up and reuse, knowledge does not carry over to the next piece of work.
Then the company lacks parts of the foundation needed to use AI as a coherent strategic resource.
Already have this? Good.
